Egg: This is another egg which, despite its rarity, is instantly recognizable by size, the orange chromatophores, and scattered short spines on the chorion, which are shorter and less conspicuous than CHIA1(A). In B, the chorion edge is in focus, and only 10-15 spines can be seen. The embryo was probably at least 2 days into incubation when collected, and at 3 days post-collection, had developed as shown in B.
Larva: The larva shown (C), hatched 5 days post collection. The eyes appeared fully developed, and pectoral and pelvic fins were well developed.
This egg has only been seen three times. The most recent, in December 2015, has been sent for DNA sequencing.
